Los Angeles is filled with so many incredible spots for engagement sessions! Whether you want a session at the beach or downtown Venice, this city has it all! Sofia and Michael wanted a unique spot for their session, one filled with views of downtown Los Angeles. Griffith Observatory was the perfect spot! I met up with the couple shortly before sunset, for a sunlight-filled engagement session.
Griffith Observatory is the perfect blend of nature and architecture, that makes an incredible backdrop. The white stone walls and patina doors and dome make for a gorgeous contrast. Open to the public in 1935, this Observatory has been an icon in Los Angeles for decades. Not only is it a popular spot for visitors, but it has been featured in multiple moves and TV shows! Locals and tourists always love this spot. Located inside Griffith Park, you can get incredible greenery with the beautiful backdrop of downtown LA.
Engagement Session at Griffith Observatory
If you are planning an engagement session at Griffith Observatory, I suggest doing it right at sunrise, or right before sunset. In the morning, you can beat the crowds. But in the evening, the skies are incredible! As the sunset reflects off the Pacific Ocean, you get the most beautiful evening glow. I also suggest going during a weekday, when it is a little less crowded. You are also close to The Greek Theater and Griffith Park, so we can also do some photos in other spots nearby!
Sofia and Michael are getting married this December, and I’m so glad I got to get their engagement photos this summer! There are so many fun shots for their Save The Date – I can’t wait to see what they pick! It was an evening full of photos, and I loved spending time with them and getting to know them better.
