The Amazing Grace Design team always does impeccable work. I was thrilled to collaborate with them to photograph the details of this California wedding! Inspired by a summer garden soirée, this wedding’s design was colorful and whimsical. It all started with the couple’s custom watercolor monogram, featuring an illustration of lemons and their two beloved pet dogs. They loved the inclusion of fresh citrus to pair with the summer season, and it inspired them to start planning the outdoor fête of their dreams!
Citrus-Infused California Wedding at a Private Estate
This California wedding was on a private estate, at the same house where the groom grew up! He and his bride wanted to exchange vows in a meaningful place, and nothing could have fit that bill more than his childhood home. The estate’s garden is full of many varieties of roses, which are at peak bloom in mid-summer. They filled the surroundings with romance and enchantment, which Amazing Grace Design’s beautiful work only heightened!
When guests arrived at the event, a bar cart covered in pink flowers and garlands of fresh lemons greeted them. The bar menus featured the couple’s custom monogram, as did the programs guests could pick up while grabbing a paper parasol to shield the sun. Moreover, the monogram appeared again at the couple’s reception, on cocktail napkins and the dinner menu. I loved that the couple made the most of this unique detail, which tied together all the day’s paper elements!
Floral patterns were another prominent motif at this summer wedding. At the reception, a porcelain dinner plate with a delicate pattern of flowers and birds graced each guest’s place setting. Additionally, rather than serving drinks from a traditional bar, the couple opted for a bold statement: a bar with a green floral backdrop. But that wasn’t the only unexpected detail! A wall of lush greenery stood behind the live band. They played the bride and groom’s favorite hits as everyone danced underneath a “ceiling” of bistro lights and stars.
