I loved connecting with Kara and Chris to shoot their Manhattan Beach engagement session! I’ve been photographing Kara’s aunt and her family for years. So, when Chris popped the question, Kara’s aunt immediately referred her and Chris to me to book their engagement session. It was amazing to make another family connection, and I can’t wait to catch up with everyone at the wedding!
Manhattan Beach Engagement Session
Kara and Chris chose Manhattan Beach as their engagement session location and couldn’t have chosen better. The beach is an iconic spot in Southern California. Plus, it’s only a short drive from Los Angeles! Its accessibility makes it a prime photo-taking spot for couples seeking a picturesque engagement session without venturing too far from their home in the city.
Manhattan Beach is a stunning backdrop for all kinds of engagement sessions, from elegant to casual and everything in between. Kara and Chris’s free-spirited session showed off their fun personalities! We began our session underneath the Manhattan Beach Pier, which provided a fun backdrop. The couple also wasn’t afraid to splash around in the ocean and get their nice clothes a little wet! They love spending weekends at the beach, so this coastal session encapsulated their love perfectly.
Beach Engagement Outfit Inspiration
For the session, Kara wore a flowy white midi dress with gorgeous bell sleeves and a skirt perfect for twirling. We shot at golden hour for the best lighting, and the sun’s rays bouncing off the ocean added a soft glow to her gown that looked so pretty. Meanwhile, Chris wore an olive button-down shirt with khaki pants that looked right at home in the natural setting. Both went barefoot as they chased each other across the sand and splashed in the waves. It was so sweet to watch them having fun together!
I’m so glad I could get to know Kara and Chris better and make another connection with their family. Shooting at Manhattan Beach is always a pleasure, especially with such a fun-loving couple!
