Long Beach Waterfront Wedding at Hotel Maya

Weddings

Long Beach’s beautiful waterfront inspired Wendelyn and Marc’s wedding at Hotel Maya. The coastal-inspired affair incorporated shades of white and dusty blue pulled from the nearby bay. The couple exchanged wedding vows overlooking the water, surrounded by their loved ones, including Wende’s four children and Marc’s son. It was a day of so much love and laughter, and I’m thrilled I could capture it

Coastal-Inspired Wedding Details

Hotel Maya’s location on the Long Beach waterfront was Wendelyn and Marc’s primary inspiration while planning their wedding. Their signage featured a soft blue watercolor pattern, including their welcome sign, bar menu, and heart-shaped wedding programs. The motif later carried into their three-tiered wedding cake, which featured a frosted turquoise ombré design topped with gold leaf.

Additionally, the couple’s guest book was a play on the beach. Their guests could write their well wishes on a small sheet of paper, then roll it up to create a “message in a bottle”!

Around the reception space, the tablescapes also reflected the coastal theme. Soft cream linens covered the mix of round and long tables, topped with dusty blue gauze runners and gold palm leaf-shaped chargers. The guest favors—custom frosted sugar cookies with a photo of the couple—made a sweet finishing touch.

Waterfront Wedding at Hotel Maya

Wendelyn and Marc’s wedding day began in their suites at Hotel Maya, getting ready with their children, friends, and family members. Of course, I had to snap a few shots of Wendelyn in her adorable eyelet lace pajamas! I always love to capture a bride while she’s getting ready with her bouquet. It’s my signature getting-ready shot! Her bouquet was perfect for summer, with an all-white mixture of roses and cascading orchids.

The couple’s ceremony and reception took place in the ‘Playa at the Maya’ area of the hotel, a 6,000-square-foot beach area featuring 285 tons of sand, two fire pits, colorful beach umbrellas, chaise lounges, and a cozy day bed. It was the perfect compromise between a luxury venue and getting married on the beach! Plus, with views of the Pacific Ocean and the city skyline, it showcased the best of Long Beach from one vantage point.

There wasn’t a dry eye during the couple’s ceremony as their parents and children watched them exchange handwritten vows. Additionally, Wendelyn’s daughter, who helped plan the day, sang during the processional and unity ceremony! It was such a meaningful occasion watching two families unite as one, all because of love. I consider it a great privilege to capture events like this one!
