There is nothing more special than a proposal! This is an event that you have been planning in your head since you first met your partner, and now it’s time to get down on one knee! As a proposal photographer, I know how important it is to have a photographer there to capture your moment. One of the reasons I love photographing proposals is that this is such a sentimental moment. When you have pictures, you can share these with your family and friends to celebrate. Plus, a lot of my couples also use the images for their engagement announcement or Save The Date! Before You Pick Your Spot
Most areas in Los Angeles will require a permit for photography. For example, commercial photographers are required for all Malibu beaches, and most beaches in Los Angeles. In Santa Monica, “A film permit is required for commercial filming or commercial still photography in any public space in Santa Monica including all streets, parks, City facilities, Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica State Beach and beach parking lots.”
Most parks also require permits, including Griffith Park and Observatory, Arboretum of Los Angeles, as well as all of the State Parks.
Malibu Beach Proposal
If you are planning a proposal on the beach, I suggest Malibu Beach! This iconic stretch of white sand and gorgeous sunsets is so picturesque. There are also a few stretches of the beach that have dramatic cliffsides and rocks, giving you a variety of backdrops. Because it is a public beach, there will be others on the beach during the proposal, so if you want something private with just the two of you, I wouldn’t suggest it. But if you are okay with some passersby, it is perfect! I recommend early morning or sunset for the best lighting and to avoid the big crowds. I have photographed many proposals in Malibu and on the beach, so I can guide you through the process! 
The Bluffs in Pacific Palisades
Looking for ocean views but with more privacy? Check out The Bluffs in Pacific Palisades. Sitting high up on a bluff, this spot gives you endless beach and ocean views and perfect sunsets. You can keep it simple, like Alex and Sabrina did, or do a complete picnic! This location is also close to many romantic restaurants, so you can set up a dinner after your proposal to celebrate. 
Beverly Hills Hotel Proposal
If you are looking for an ultimate luxury proposal, propose at the Beverly Hills Hotel! Their gardens are gorgeous all year round, and after your proposal, you can have a romantic weekend getaway. You can also rent out one of their spaces, which does require you to have a planner, but will let you create a completely custom space. And don’t forget the flowers! You can also book a hotel suite and cover it in flowers and candles for a surprise they will never forget.
