Christina and Luis wanted a unique backdrop for their engagement session, and when they suggested Vasquez Rocks I got so excited! This is one of the coolest spots in California and a place I have wanted to do an engagement session at for so long. These rock formations were formed around 25 million years ago, and it really is incredible to see something that has stood the test of time. When you arrive at the park gates you are greeted with the coolest view.
For the best lighting, we went a few hours before sunset so we got the perfect golden hour glow. Engagement photos like these are a big reason why I am a believer in taking photos during the golden hour. You really get the best lighting, and avoid the harsh afternoon sun, which is pretty hot in the desert! There’s something so magical about this place. It’s about an hour outside of Los Angeles but is always worth the drive.
We walked around the park, and really took time to get to know one another, and talk about their wedding next May at Middle Ranch. After a year of quarantine, it was so incredible to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors!
Christina and Luis, you two made this engagement session so fun! Plus, this location is one of the coolest in California. I’m so glad we got to capture your love story at Vasquez Rocks. Thank you for choosing me to capture your engagement!
