Olivia and Jordan are the type of people you feel instantly comfortable with. The two have so much love for one another and were so excited to have an intimate wedding on the beach, with a reception at one of hate favorite restaurants, James’ Beach. The two wanted a simple wedding, where everyone could just enjoy time together and reconnect. And of course, their dog, a black lab, was also a big part of their wedding! I’m so glad I got to be there to photograph it all.
They got ready at a private home in Venice, right on a canal. The Venice Canals are a nod to Venice, Italy, and were created in the early 1900’s. These homes are just a few blocks from the beach and the famous boardwalk. Plus, it was just a short walk to their reception at James’ Beach!
Venice Beach Wedding Ceremony
Olivia wore her mother’s wedding dress, which was very meaningful to her. The beautiful satin gown featured an open square back with pearls, which she accented with pearl jewelry and nude heels. For this summer wedding, they wanted lots of bright colors! Olivia’s bouquet featured orange calla lilies, red roses, purple iris, and a cobalt blue ribbon. Her bridal party wore colorful floral dresses, which was so fun! I love when my couples decide to go with lots of colors and unique details.
They had a unique first look at one of the canals’ bridges. We also made sure to get some pictures of the couple on a boat, as well as with their dog. After portraits, we headed to Venice Beach for their ceremony. It was a quick and simple ceremony, and their family and friends stood around and watched.
After breaking the glass, we headed to dinner at James’ Beach! James’ beach is one of the most famous restaurants in Venice. The open-air style allows for a fresh ocean breeze, with indoor and outdoor seating. While the restaurant is now closed, it was the perfect spot for Olivia and Jordan, who wanted a simple reception steps away from the beach. As a wedding photographer, I love capturing weddings of all sizes! From intimate elopements to large wedding weekends! No matter what style of wedding you are having, I would love to hear from you.
