Before booking an LA event photographer, ensuring they’re the best fit for your needs is a crucial first step. Whether you’re planning a private event or a corporate party, the right photographer—with relevant experience—will capture stunning images that don’t disappoint.
But how can you tell if a photographer will be a good investment? You can start right here! On your next discovery call, ask these five essential questions to determine whether an event photographer is right for you.
Questions to Ask Your LA Event Photographer
What Type of Events Do You Photograph?
The “events photography” category spans a range of affairs, from birthday parties to corporate dinners to charity balls. Ideally, you want to hire a photographer with experience photographing your type of event, especially if celebrities and VIPs will be in attendance.
As an LA event photographer, I’ve photographed almost every kind of celebration imaginable. I’ve also worked directly with celebrity clients. Recently, I had the honor of photographing a Warner Music Group board dinner and the Savage x Fenty holiday party, which you can see sneak peeks of throughout this post!
Do You Shoot Solo or With a Second Shooter?
Some event photographers prefer to work alone, while others always work with a second shooter or team. A second shooter can be beneficial to ensure documentation of your entire event, from décor details to candid moments. After all, a single photographer can only be in one place at one time!
I’ve shot events alone and with a second shooter. It all depends on the size of the event! I always bring a second shooter to large-scale events to ensure my client’s satisfaction with their coverage.
Do You Offer Onsite Printing?
Onsite printing is a fun feature to offer at your event, as it places a keepsake directly in the hands of your attendees—while the event is still happening! Photos can be delivered physically or via email as a timely souvenir.
While I don’t currently offer this service, I have friends who do! If you’re interested in working together to document your event and require onsite printing, I would love to chat and figure out a way to accommodate your needs.
Do You Offer Videography Services?
If you would like your event documented on video, this is an important question to ask your photographer. Some may offer you a package deal. Or, if they don’t offer videography themselves, they may be able to point you to someone who does. I don’t offer videography, but I’m happy to refer you to companies I trust and love working with!
When Can I Expect to Receive My Images After My Event?
Most photographers like to work within a specific turnaround time to get you your images as soon as possible. Knowing what to expect in advance is helpful, especially when you can’t wait to see what they’ve captured!
My clients can expect to receive their full gallery one week after their event. However, I always like to send a few key images the day after as a fun preview! Each image is edited in my signature style and available to download in web and full-resolution sizes from Pixieset.
It would be my honor to serve as your LA event photographer! I’ve worked across SoCal shooting everything from mitzvahs to non-profit events and possess the experience to document your event effortlessly. Whether you’re seeking to promote your brand or preserve precious family memories, I have the skill set to make your photography dreams come true. Book your discovery call today!
