One aspect of the wedding photography experience many couples overlook is engagement party photography. While engagement sessions featuring the bride and groom have grown in popularity, many don’t think to hire a photographer for their engagement party. However, this event is a fantastic opportunity for high-quality photos with your family and friends! Read on for the four reasons you should book engagement party photography. Orthodox Jewish Engagement Party in Los Angeles
Gabriela and Maurice’s Orthodox Jewish engagement party, or “vort,” was a beautiful, two-day celebration of their love and heritage. The first event was a small meet and greet hosted at Maurice’s aunt’s house on Monday evening, followed by a tented backyard party at Maurice’s parents’ house on Tuesday evening. The couple’s parents and Maurice’s aunt planned everything and outdid themselves! I’m so glad I was there to capture it all.
The engagement party took place in December during Hanukkah. Naturally, they had to have a challah and a menorah at both events! The couple will tie the knot at the end of January on the East Coast, where Gabriela grew up. Although I won’t be their wedding photographer, it was an honor to play a small part in their journey, from getting engaged to saying “I do.”
Why You Should Book Engagement Party Photography
More Family Portraits
Booking a photographer for your engagement party will allow you to get more family portraits than you could on your wedding day alone. On the big day, there will be limited time for family portraits. So, you’ll ensure plenty of time for all the photos you want by hosting an engagement party and hiring a photographer! This tip is especially beneficial for large families.
Capture Every Detail
You and your family have invested time and care into designing the perfect engagement party. A photographer will document every detail to ensure you always remember this special night! Moreover, your engagement party is a fun opportunity to explore a different design concept that you aren’t doing for your wedding. For example, if you’ve dreamed of a monochromatic, floral-filled event but wanted a colorful wedding, this is a great time to bring that design dream to life.
Pictures with Friends
Your engagement party is the perfect opportunity to get high-quality candid photos with your friends, especially if you won’t have a wedding party. On your wedding day, your photographer most likely won’t have time to take photos of individual guests or couples. However, at your engagement party, they’ll have that flexibility!
Get Comfortable in Front of the Camera
If you’ve never posed for a professional photographer, your engagement party is a chance to loosen up and enjoy yourself in front of the camera. So, you’ll already know what to expect on your wedding day! Moreover, you’ll get to bond with your photographer and ensure you feel comfortable with them. That way, you can decide whether or not you want the same person to photograph your wedding.
