A Sunset Santa Monica Bluff Proposal at Palisades Park

Proposals

Some stories unfold like a beautiful novel, filled with chapters of unforgettable memories. For Emily, a dedicated nurse, and Taylor, a psychiatrist, their journey together has been one of love, growth, and shared experiences. So when Taylor decided to propose on their anniversary, November 30, he wanted it to be deeply personal and meaningful. A reflection of the years they’ve spent building their life together.

With Santa Monica’s stunning coastline as their backdrop, Taylor planned the perfect surprise proposal at Palisades Park, one of the most breathtaking spots in Los Angeles. And, of course, I was there to capture every emotional second of it.

Proposal at Palisades Park

Taylor knew he wanted to propose at The Santa Monica Bluff, a place that holds sentimental value for both of them. To make the moment even more meaningful, he set up a cozy picnic—complete with a photo album filled with memories from their relationship. When Taylor got down on one knee, Emily’s reaction was pure joy and shock, and the way she looked at him when she realized what was happening was simply priceless.

And let’s not forget her breathtaking emerald and diamond Toi et Moi ring! I love unique engagement rings, and this one was stunning. After the big “yes,” we spent time wandering through Palisades Park, where some of the roses were still in bloom.

Nestled along Ocean Avenue, Palisades Park is one of Santa Monica’s most iconic landmarks. Stretching over twenty-six acres, it offers unparalleled views of Santa Monica Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Its picturesque palm trees, rose gardens, and charming benches create a setting that is both romantic and timeless. Perfect for a surprise proposal! Despite its popularity, it’s possible to find quiet, tucked-away spots to create an intimate and personal moment.

Tips for Proposing in a Public Park or Scenic Outdoor Location

When planning a proposal in a public setting, I recommend finding a space that is more private and tucked away. This way, you don’t have to worry about it being interrupted by crowds!

It’s also important to hire a professional photographer who knows how to remain discreet. This way,  you can have them capture genuine emotions without drawing unnecessary attention. With experience photographing proposals across Los Angeles, from beaches and parks to private venues, I understand how to document these moments naturally and unobtrusively.

Choosing a weekday for the proposal can also help avoid large crowds, ensuring a more relaxed and uninterrupted experience. Additionally, it is important to check whether the location requires a photography permit. Some Santa Monica beaches and parks require permits for photography, so it’s always best to check in advance to avoid surprises.
