It might have rained all day, but it didn’t ruin Sam’s surprise proposal to Julie! Sam found me on Instagram and reached out. He and Julie live in New York but were spending a weekend in Los Angeles, and Sam wanted to propose during the trip. He knew that having it photographed was so important so that the two could always cherish these memories. And I’m happy I got to photograph their surprise Malibu proposal!
On the morning of the proposal, we had a large rainstorm, and it was pouring all day. Sam and I were worried it wasn’t going to happen that day anymore because it was raining so hard! We came up with a backup plan at a local coffee shop, but thankfully the rain stopped right before they got out of the car.
A Malibu Proposal On The Beach
Since I have photographed many proposals in Malibu and on the beach, I knew exactly where to be, so Julie didn’t realize I was there to photograph them. As a proposal photographer, I want to keep it a surprise and not be noticed! For some shoots, I can hide and for others, I can just act like a regular photographer taking pictures of the beach.
The couple started walking on the beach, and after a few minutes, Sam got down on one knee. Julie was so surprised! And when she realized it was being photographed, she got so excited. I always make sure to have a mini-shoot after the proposal so that we can get photos of the happy couple. These are often the photos my couples use on their save-the-dates! So we walked along the beach, and thankfully, the rain held up. The ring Sam got was a beautiful solitaire diamond and was perfect for his new fiancé.
